1891: Helsingborgs Gummifabriks AB

1891 Tretorn was founded by Johan Dunker in Helsingborg, Sweden, setting the stage for one of the most enduring success stories born from the late industrial revolution.

1891: Henry Dunker at the Helm

Soon after the company's beginning, Johan Dunker's son, Henry, is hired at the age of 21 as the company’s only salesman to get the infant company off the ground. Later, he inherits the company and builds the company Tretorn, as we know it today.

1892-94: More Than A Trend

Dunker’s company produces 39,000 pairs of galoshes in 1892. Just two years later, the number rises to 206,000.

1896: A Milestone

1,000,000th rubber boot manufactured at Helsinborgs Gummifabriks AB on February 18, 1896.

1902: A Swedish Innovator

Besides galoshes, many other items were manufactured such as hoses, bicycle pedals, and balls.

1911: A Pioneer in the Workplace

To his “extended family” of Tretorn employees, which reaches 325 in 1911, Dunker offers free health care.

2012: The Nylite, re-born in new colors

Tretorn Nylite was first launched 1967. The white shoe with the dark blue "wing" was considered the first "luxurious" sports shoe ever. Today, it is re-borne in eight new colors.
